The strong bond between Mumbai Indians teammates Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya is well known. The Indian all-rounder had even termed the West Indian as a ‘brother from another mother.’
But it’s not only Pollard who has had an influence over Hardik. In fact, both the Pandya brothers including Krunal Pandya love West Indian cricketers and have regularly followed them since their childhood.
The revelation was made by the Pandya brothers on the show What the Duck (season 3).
“It’s not like that, we are this way after we started playing IPL together. We are like this from our childhood, we love West Indians,” said Krunal.
“There is something in them, they are very chilled out,” said Hardik
Krunal got married to his long-time girlfriend Pankhuiri sharma in 2017 but he’s in no hurry to get his brother married.
“Regarding marriage, I want to give Hardik just one advice ‘don’t get married’. You can do it later, maybe in your forties.. till then you just see, as they say, ‘grow up’, ” joked Krunal.
The elder brother also gave an insight into their relationship.
“Hardik says I irritate him a lot, he actually gets irritated and sometimes he does not come back to the room.. he actually takes 2 to 3 hours to gather himself,” added the 27-year-old
Krunal claimed that his brother Hardik looked more Caribbean than Indian during his childhood.
“I used to look little less West Indian but he was completely. When someone called him black…our mother used to fight and say he isn’t black. I always used to say, ‘mummy why are you fighting, your son is black and if someone calls him black, they aren’t wrong’,” Krunal said.
Krunal also shared a funny anecdote from 2003 when the Kenyan players mistook Hardik for being a Kenyan and not an Indian.
“In 2003, the Kenyan team came to Baroda for practice before the World Cup.. Kenyan players were waiting for the bus. Hardik looked like a Carribean child and not an Indian. Kids were going to players to get their autographs but no one was giving. Suddenly, they saw Hardik and among all, they gave their autographs to him because they thought that Hardik was from their hometown. They were like get this boy first, let us give him an autograph,” he said.
Both the brothers have been the mainstay for MI over the years as they play a crucial role with both bat and ball. Hardik has won two IPL title with Mumbai in 2015 and 2017, while Krunal won the title last year.
Esther Freud went to prison was five years ago. Luckily, not as an inmate but to research her new play, Stitchers, which tells the story of a group of prisoners who are rehabilitated through learning how to sew.
One of the first inmates she met was a man in a wheelchair, incarcerated on the Isle of Wight. He was doing an intricate piece of embroidery featuring two artichokes. At one point, he became very agitated, physically threatening and shouted at the volunteer that there was “a real problem”.
“I was really nervous,” says Freud, who witnessed the whole scene. “My heart was thumping.”
It turned out the cause of his anger was quite prosaic: “He said: ‘This cream wool is not the same shade…

Jilly Cooper reveals she never took her own marriage advice
Cooper also wrote that if a woman refused a man’s requests to romp for two days he cannot be blamed for straying.
But Cooper, 81, said she “nearly died of horror” re-reading it.
She told The Lady magazine: “What a smug, opinionated, proselytising little know-it-all I was back then.
“More shamingly, I have never practised what I preached.”

Cooper winced at her line that “if a man is married to a slut” the husband must remonstrate with her as “women like a firm hand”.
Cooper, whose husband Leo cheated on her, also wrote: “If your husband looks happy on a Monday morning and miserable on a Friday night, he’s probably having an affair at work.”
