Bride gets advice from Instagram on how to plot revenge on man who left her at the alter
Being jilted at the altar must be one of the worst experiences that any man or woman can experience on their wedding day.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to one woman whose husband-to-be didn’t even bother to show up at the church, leaving her in a very tricky situation.
In a sure-fire sign that she was far more committed to the relationship than he was, she paid for the majority of the wedding and even their honeymoon to Greece.
She explained exactly what happened in an email to the Instagram account The Shade Room.
Just in case you can’t read that above post this is what she said:
This was suppose (sic) to be me and my ex-fiancé, but he never showed up to our wedding on Mon and we never went to Greece.
I didn’t get insurance for our trip and it cost over 3 grand, not including all the vendors I paid out of pocket myself. He paid for nothing.
People showed up and flew from everywhere and went back home after the venue turned them around. I found out he never paid the venue.
I was at the hotel getting ready with my girls when this went down. 10 years gone in 10 minutes.
I purchased a dress for 3 grand, paid the dj 2.4 grand, Photographer 4 grand and other small purchases totaling 2 grand.
He spent $300 for my hair and nails and $500 for the venue deposit which he told me he paid, but was a lie, he never paid it.
We even had a bridal shower. I’m in a dream-reality now.
The Shade Room asked their followers to happy this unhappy bride out and give some advice about what she could do next.
The majority were under the impression that she should sue him. iminyjo wrote:
OUCH. Sue him. This was a breach of contract.
The ring was material consideration for the verbal contract.
She should be able to get at least some of her $$$ back.
I learned that in an HS law class I took twenty year ago – hopefully it’s still accurate!
Good Luck honey!
Others were less sympathetic and felt that she should have seen this coming. eugenia08 said:
I am sorry but the writing was all over the wall here.
You can’t marry just to hit into society norms or to keep up with the Joneses.
You paid for everything! I mean that was one of the signs. Did you buy the engagement ring too?
You are saying 10 years is gone in 10 mins, but In actually (sic), you probably was unhappy for 10 years, but you thought marriage was going to solve the void.
Please take this as a lesson and move you. Your soul mate awaits you dear.
Some told her just to go to Greece and live her best life. xo_niaj said:
Go to greece change ya name and get married to a prince and use your wedding dress as a bathrobe.
Unfortunately, this sort of thing seems to happen quite a lot. bknysb wrote:
OMG, I’m not the only one…My HUSBAND cancelled our wedding reception 5 weeks before the event.
EVERYTHING was in my name because his credit was ruined by his 2nd EX-WIFE…
Still in debt from this MFer.
Others felt the whole story was a little fishy. puregoddesss posed this question:
BUT WAIT…how you didn’t know your venue wasn’t paid for before your wedding day, isn’t there normally a rehearsal at the venue a few days before???
Something ain’t adding up.
It’s unlikely that we’ll ever learn what happens in this scenario but the morale of the story has to be: don’t let useless men get away with paying for nothing at a wedding.

UNCUT: Kathryna Yu, bride of Koko Pimentel, on relationship and Duterte's marital advice
Amid the frenzied start of another election season, re-electionist senator Koko Pimentel’s bride, Kathryna Yu, cut a refreshing figure at the Thursday filing of certificates of candidacy at the Comelec office in Intramuros, Manila.
For good luck, Pimentel brought along his fiancée as he registered his candidacy, exactly seven days before their wedding at the Coconut Palace at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.
A native of Marikina with a Filipino-Chinese bloodline, Yu led a low-key and quiet life as a caterer when she met Pimentel in 2013. It happened at his election victory party, where she was the food supplier.
“He asked me to make him coffee, sabi ko, ‘Bakit ako pa?’” she recalled in a recent interview with ABS-CBN News.
She later found out that it was Pimentel’s way to get to know her, and that he did not drink coffee at all.
Pimentel later said that Yu is his soulmate and that it was fate that their paths crossed at a challenging point in his personal life.
The senator’s marriage to his first wife, former Binibining Pilipinas Jewel Lobaton, was eventually annulled in January.
He popped the question to Yu in February, after her workout in a setting devoid of any suspense or romance. “It wasn’t exactly a proposal or a question. He just said it’s about time we become a family,” she recounted, laughing.
Yu said yes nonetheless to the man who would change the direction of her life.
Her family was also won over by Pimentel’s self-effacing and amiable personality. “Ako pa nga nagsasabi sa kanya, ‘Magbihis ka naman!’” she shared.
She opted not to confirm the value of her three-carat diamond engagement ring. “Nakakahiya, e,” she said.
Modesty appears natural to Yu, who dresses simply and prefers a no-frills wedding that will highlight Filipino cuisine and local giveaways like peanut butter.
Yu also prefers to be in the political background, as head of PDP Cares, the charity arm of Pimentel’s political party.
President Duterte will lead the nine pairs of sponsors at the wedding that will have two receptions — the first for their families and friends at the Coconut Palace on October 15; and the second for Pimentel’s constituents at the Sofitel Sunset Pavilion on October 21.
Pimentel’s two sons, Martin and Akio, who call Yu “Mama Kath,” will be the ring and bible bearers.
Asked whether she and Pimentel have received any advice from President Duterte, she said: “Dapat daw mas maging mapag-pasensiya ang babae, para mas mag-last ang marriage.”
Yu has embraced what she calls her destiny. Referring to Pimentel, she said: “I love him 101 per cent.”
ITV This Morning: 'He LIED' Eamonn Holmes jibes Jack Brooksbank ahead of royal wedding
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford took on the royal wedding coverage for ITV programme This Morning today, and were getting increasingly excited about the impending nuptials.
The married presenters conducted an interview with the couple Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank ahead of the live programming today, where they chatted to the pair about everything from marriage advice to finding “love at first sight”.
At the end of the interview, Jack insisted he would remember to give Eamonn and Ruth a wave as they drove past the ITV studio tent to the chapel.
But what took place was actually very different.
It makes sense the groom would have his mind on other things as he headed into the ceremony, but Eamonn was noticeably unimpressed.
Holding out his hand in a wave, Eamonn tried to catch the groom’s attention but failed.
“He promised us a wave Ruth,” Eamonn noted, but Ruth didn’t reply.
Having missed Jack’s attention completely, Eamonn declared: “He lied.”
Earlier on in the show, Ruth made an accidental blunder as she attempted to pronounce Princess Eugenie’s name.
Even after a prior discussion over how to say the complicated name, Ruth still said it wrong during the live coverage.
Catching herself, Ruth lamented: “Oh god I’ve said it wrong again haven’t I…”
Rolling her eyes and laughing, the presenter was seemingly embarrassed by her mistake.
“I’ve said it right three times!” she insisted with a laugh.
Later on in the programme, Ruth and Eamonn shared their full interview with the bride and groom, and it was clear the pair were loved up and incredibly excited for their big day.
Princess Eugenie talked about how easy her relationship with her husband-to-be Jack Brooksbank was from their first meeting, claiming it was “love at first sight”.
Eamonn and Ruth even asked the couple if they wanted their advice for a long and happy marriage.
“What’s it like to work together?” Eugenie asked with a giggle, but Ruth was firm.
“Don’t do it, never do that,” Ruth joked.
“The secret to a long and happy marriage is never have a cross word between you,” Eamonn then insisted.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
Michelle Obama's Marriage Advice Is Actually Really Practical
The former president and first lady of the United States were known for, among other things, candid conversations about their relationship. Speaking of that very topic once more on The TODAY show on Thursday, former first lady Michelle Obama had some marriage advice that essentially came down to this: get your own bathroom.
“One of the keys to a successful marriage is separate bathrooms,” Obama said. “When [Barack Obama] enters my bathrooms, sometimes I’m like, ‘Why are you in here?’ And he’s like, ‘I live here. Can I enjoy my bathroom too?'”
Life after the White House seems good for Obama, who said that it’s mostly enjoying the “small things.” For instance, she said, “It’s going to my girl’s game and just really being a mom. So there’s nothing new that’s going on; it’s just that we’re out in the real world.”
The former first lady was present on the show to promote an education-focused program called Global Girls Alliance. Obama said that the initiative will help bolster the operations of some 1,500 grassroots programs on providing girls access to better education.
Speaking of the importance of such a program, Obama said, “The stats show that when you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country. It makes no sense … that girls and women are not getting educated, that they’re not in school.”
Speaking further about the educational program, Obama linked it to broader subjects. “So it absolutely makes sense for us,” she said, “if we care about climate change, if we care about poverty, if we care about maternal and child health, then we have to care about education.”
The former first lady also spoke about former President George W. Bush and her admiration for him. “President Bush and I are forever seat mates because of protocol; that’s how we sit at all the official functions,” Obama said. “So he is my partner in crime at every major thing where all the formers gather.”

Separate spaces in the same household may sound a little counterintuitive but some couples cite separate beds and even bathrooms as a way to keep a marriage happy and thriving.
According to a Today report on the subject, a respect for personal space can help a couple regain control of their relationship. One of the interviewees, Erica Scoville of Richland, Washington, explained her decision to sleep in a separate bed in the same house. “It’s important for people to remember that sleeping together doesn’t always save a marriage any more than sleeping apart ruins a marriage,” she said.
“It’s sleep,” Scoville added, “and sleep is really important to everyone. But even more important than that is loving each other enough to try something that makes life a bit easier for your partner.”
The same could be argued for couples using separate bathrooms. Considering that many people have their own morning and nightly routines and rituals, a separate bathroom for a couple could help them follow their schedules without straining a marriage. This is all to say: Obama might just have a point.
