Once you’ve got your bridal trousseau and jewellery finalised, it’s time to get down to the details – your crowning glory! If you’re unsure of caring for your hair in the months leading up to the wedding and can’t zero in on the right indian wedding hairstyles for your big day, this post is for you. Read on and get started on the preparations.

Indian Wedding Hairstyles Some Pre Wedding Hair Care Tips

What are some pre-wedding hair care tips?

If you’ve got about six months on your side, you’ve got enough time to give your locks the TLC they need to be your crowning glory on your big day. Here’s what you need to do.

– Address hair and scalp problems

Whether you have dandruff, excessive hair fall, or dry scalp, get started on the appropriate treatment option right away and be regular at it. Remember to address the root cause of your hair and scalp problems – for example, hair fall could be the result of dandruff or stress.

– Cut chemicals from your routine

Most shampoos contain sulphates and salts in their formulas which can be extremely harsh on your hair. Choose a sulphate-free, salt-free shampoo for gentle cleansing that won’t strip your hair and scalp of natural oils or rough up the cuticle. Choose a shampoo that works for your hair and scalp type and specific problems. If you colour your hair, use a gentle shampoo that’s specially formulated to lock in colour and make it last.

If possible, go all-natural. Make your own shampoo using ingredients like shikakai, reetha, amla, and neem powder. You can also use baking soda to cleanse your scalp and remove odour. However, remember that baking soda is drying so use it only as a clarifying rinse to remove build-up of chemicals. Furthermore, consider choosing henna to colour greys instead of chemicals.

– Condition and nourish

Once a month, treat your hair to a deep conditioning treatment to nourish the roots and hair ends, and to give your hair a smooth silky texture. Go for a protein treatment or a deep hydration hair mask. In addition to this, use a clarifying or anti-residual shampoo once a week to clear build-up of products and treat your tresses and scalp to a hot oil treatment.

– Prevent damage

Protect your hair from the sun, wind, rain, and pollution by covering it every time you step outside. Avoid applying heat to your hair as it can strip hair of its natural oils. If you must use heat styling tools, use a heat protectant on your hair first. Use a shampoo and conditioner from the same brand and line; avoid using conditioner near the roots as it can make your scalp oily. Avoid brushing and combing your hair when it is wet, and refrain from tying your hair too tight as it can lead to breakage.

Tip: Give your hair basic TLC and you’ll see the difference!

How to choose the right wedding hairstyle?

Your wedding hairstyle is going to be a key part of your bridal look. Make sure you make the right choice with these tips.

How to Choose the Right Indian Wedding Hairstyle

– Consider your outfit – your hairstyle should complement your bridal trousseau, not compete with it. Think of the formality of the venue and the general wedding style and theme too; if you’re having a laidback wedding, go for loose, natural waves or curls, if you’re having a romantic or fairy-tale wedding, choose the elegant French twist or chignon.

– Aim for comfort – you want to choose a hairstyle that will sit comfortably for a stretch of 6-8 hours without making your head feel heavy. If you plant to drape a dupatta over your head, remember to choose a fuss-free hairstyle that doesn’t require adjusting or has too many pins or adornments that could get caught in the fabric. You might want to opt for a hairstyle that can be done in as less time as possible.

– Zero in on a style or the vibe you wish to create – turn to Pinterest or other sites and magazines to get ideas for your wedding hairdo. Click pictures or pen down whatever you like and eliminate options depending on the pros and cons of each style. Speak to friends or your hairstylist for ideas and solutions.

– Choose a hairstyle that suits your face; think of the flowers, matha-patti, and other adornments too. Note that just because a hairdo looks great on a particular celebrity, it doesn’t mean it will work on you too.

Tip: Consider all different factors before finalising your wedding day hairdo.

What are some Indian wedding hairstyles to try?

You can sport any kind of hairdo on your wedding day irrespective of the length of your hair. Here are some ideas for your big day.

Here are the best hairstyles for different face shapes:

– An oval face shape is well-balanced and evenly proportioned, making it well-suited for versatile hairstyles. If you’re blessed with an oval face, feel free to experiment with bangs, slick updos, middle part styles, or layered hairstyles.

– If you have a heart shaped face, accentuate the tapered shape by pulling hair back into bun or top knot. A deep side part looks great but avoid a middle part. Avoid short bangs and short bobs too. Balance features with shoulder length hair that can add volume around the bottom of your face.

– Enhance your square shaped face with blunt bangs or soften features with wispy side-swept bangs. Add length to your face by wearing your hair straight and long with layers.

– If you have a round face, elongate it with a deep side part or face-framing bangs.

– If you have a rectangular face, aim to add width to your already long face. Go for a blowout or big curls for a widening effect.

Tip: Choose a hairstyle that works for your face shape and goes with your bridal trousseau and jewellery.

What are some hair dos and don’ts to keep in mind before the wedding?

Avoid disasters with these tips!

– Don’t ask for too many opinions as doing so will only lead you to being confused. Make a list of what you like and want and work with a trusted friend or relative and your hairstylist to figure out what will work best for you on your wedding day. Don’t bother about what others think and how they want you to look.

– Say no to last-minute hair colour jobs and haircuts. Get a haircut at least a month before the big day so you have enough time to settle into the cut. Go for a chop even earlier if you’re planning to try a new hairstyle. Get your hair coloured a week before the festivities begin. As a rule of thumb, refrain from trying out anything new right before the wedding.

– Don’t hire a hairstylist simply because you loved the job they did on your best friend on her wedding day. Give yourself ample time to research options and speak to hairstylists about what you want. Weigh the options and suggestions you get from each stylist and consider the one who understands your ideas and seems to be talking sense.

– It is always a good idea to get a trial run done before your wedding. When making an appointment, always check if the hairstylist can create the hairstyle for you on a scheduled day so you know exactly how you’ll look on your wedding.

– Don’t let bridezilla moments get the better of you on your wedding day – give yourself and your hairstylist enough time to get your hairdo in order and also factor in time for any errors and mishaps that might occur. Rushing your hairstylist will only worsen things.

– Be prepared with a backup plan – you don’t want to be left stranded on your wedding day for any reason whatsoever. Also have a close friend or relative carry a pouch with a travel-sized hairspray, bobby pins, and a brush or comb so you can tame flyaways and fix loose strands easily.

FAQs

Q. What foods can I eat for healthy hair?

A. Diet hugely impacts the health and growth of your hair, so be sure to eat balanced meals containing protein, complex carbs, vitamins, and minerals. Apart from this, stay hydrated through the day as water supports nutrients that contribute to hair growth. Here are some foods that are important for healthy hair:
– Dark leafy greens are full of iron, an essential mineral that hair cells require. Iron deficiency can keep oxygen and nutrients from being transported to hair roots and follicles, inhibiting hair growth and making strands weak. Green vegetables also contain other amazing nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C, beta carotene, and folate which work together to promote a healthy scalp and strong hair.
– Citrus fruits are full of vitamin C which the body needs to absorb iron. Vitamin C is also important for the production of collagen to make capillaries that connect to the hair shafts, enabling regular supply of nutrients for quick and healthy hair growth.
– Nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds, fatty fish like salmon, sardine, and trout, and fruits like avocado are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids. These important fats cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained through dietary sources. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in the cells that line the scalp and are responsible for providing natural oils that keep the scalp and hair nourished and hydrated.
– Whole grains, egg yolk, yeast, and soy flour are rich in biotin, a a water-soluble B vitamin that is required for cell proliferation and is important for producing amino acids that help hair grow. Biotin deficiency is known to make hair strands brittle and lead to hair loss.
– Hair strands are made up of protein fibre which means they require adequate amount of protein to grow and remain healthy. When the body doesn’t get enough protein, it rations the available quantity by cutting off protein supply to hair follicles, leading to dry and brittle hair, and subsequently, hair fall. Oats, dairy products, and eggs are some protein-rich foods that can boost hair growth.

Q. Should I wash my hair on the day of my wedding?

A. Unless you’re going to flaunt your tresses as they are, washing your hair on the day of the wedding isn’t recommended. That’s because hair that’s too clean is difficult to style and doesn’t hold in place as easily as hair that’s been shampooed a day or two before. Natural oils add texture to your hair, making it easy to style into braids, top knots, or messy hairdos. The best thing to do is to shampoo hair the night before your big day but do check with your hairstylist well in advance.

Q. Does stress lead to hair loss?

A. Yes, hair loss can be related to stress. However, the signs of stress on your body first manifest as brittle or thin nails and skin conditions like psoriasis or dermatitis, so if you’re careful enough, you can stop stress from getting to your head! Hair strands go from a growing phase followed by a resting phase to a falling-out phase. Under stress, this cycle gets accelerated, causing hair to fall out quicker. Stress induced hair loss can be reversible as it is usually a reaction caused by extreme change in diet, medical issues, or lifestyle changes. Once you address the culprit and take concrete steps against it, your hair will resume growing and shedding at the normal pace.

Q. What are some home remedies for healthy hair?

A. Use these remedies for your hair problems:

– Crush a couple of biotin tablets in olive or coconut oil and massage into scalp. Leave on overnight and shampoo or rinse as usual in the morning. Do this twice a week for healthy hair.

– Warm up coconut, olive, or almond oil and massage into scalp and hair. Leave on overnight and shampoo as usual in the morning. Do this once or twice a week to boost circulation and hair growth.

– Mix three egg yolks with a tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of vitamin E. Massage onto scalp and hair and shampoo after 15 minutes for soft, silky locks.

– Mix apple cider vinegar and water in equal quantities and use a final rinse for a cleansed scalp and shiny hair.

– To treat dandruff and hair loss, soak fenugreek seeds overnight, grind to a paste, and apply onto scalp. Rinse after 30 minutes.

ITV GMB: Piers Morgan reveals he was 'hospitalised' after Doctor Hilary advice – Express

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has been keeping the nation up to date with his wellness this week.

After a hellish cold took over the presenter, Piers was eager to let the viewers of the ITV show about his welfare.

And although he left the show alive and well in Tuesday’s show, things quickly went bad for him after the cameras stopped rolling.

Speaking out on the morning show earlier today, Piers explained that Doctor Hilary diagnosed him, and simply said: “Don’t worry, you’re over the worst.”

But there was much more to the story, Piers went on, as he revealed he had to go to hospital later in the day.

He said: “I ended up in hospital with Bronchitis, Sinusitis, and Laryngitis.”

The host scowled: “Thanks a lot Hilary!”

In classic Piers fashion, he continued to complain about his illness throughout the show, frequently mentioning his hospital visit.

Piers later claimed: “It is a miracle that I’m here at all! I’m dealing with this attack on my body.”

Susanna Reid sarcastically chimed in to say: “We’re all really grateful you’re in, by the way…”

To which Piers hit back: “You said I never give you anything for Christmas and look – a parting gift!”

Things aren’t all bad for Piers and Susanna, however, as the former revealed on Twitter earlier this week.

He posted on Twitter: “Hearing some very exciting news about yesterday’s GMB ratings. Prepare for an historic statement…

“BREAKING NEWS, It’s official – yesterday’s GMB had the highest ratings in our show’s entire history. Thanks for watching!”

The incredible news follows the exclusive interview the duo conducted with Thomas Markle – father of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex – who claims he hasn’t spoken to his daughter since before her wedding to Prince Harry.

During the interview Thomas explained: “I’m hopeful that something will soon be resolved – this can’t continue forever.

“People are saying I shouldn’t say anything, and that if i don’t speak they will speak to me.

“I don’t plan on being silent for the rest of my life. I would really appreciate a call or a text.”

Piers later confirmed Thomas was not being paid for his appearance on the show.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.

How Marriage Counseling Works, And Why Even Happy Couples Should Go | Lesli Doares – YourTango

This preventative “medicine” can make it last forever.

It’s happened again. A potential client scheduled an initial appointment but before I could even talk to him about his marriage challenges, he called and canceled. He and his wife decided to separate.

It’s just crazy. Getting marriage advice should be the first thing you do, not the last. Somehow, seeing a specialist or going to marriage counseling makes sense for everything but your relationship.

Most people don’t think twice about going to a doctor if their foot hurts or they’ve been coughing for weeks. But marriage? The average time from a problem being identified to getting help is 6 years — that’s pretty much like coughing non-stop for years.

It would drive you, and everyone else around you, crazy. Why do you think a challenge in your marriage is any different? How much time and energy is wasted ignoring a problem — or, worse, silently seething about it? You go to the doctor to stop the pain or to discover if there is something more serious happening. A marriage specialist can do the same thing for you.

It’s better to catch something at the pre-cancerous stage instead of waiting until you’re diagnosed at Stage 4. The treatment is easier, faster, more effective, and a lot less expensive and painful. Here are two major myths about marriage that can prevent people from seeking help and support early on:

1. People think relationships should be natural.

Running is considered natural, too, but I don’t think anyone looks twice at Usain Bolt having a coach to identify strengths and address challenges to ensure that he’s the fastest man in the world. No one thinks he’s crazy or that he should be able to analyze his performance on his own. Most people would wonder what he’s thinking if he didn’t have a coach.

If you played sports or music or danced, you had a coach or a teacher. Why? So you could learn the right technique and to improve under their guidance. So why not with your marriage? What could be more important?

2. People think their love is always going to be easy.

That’s just not the case. Marriage, much like soccer, has rules. Kids can get together and kick the ball around but they’re not playing the game. Without someone to explain the rules and how to work as a team, they won’t get any better.

People don’t see the need to get this information in the beginning of their relationships. They’re in love and have no problem spending all their time together in blissful agreement. What they don’t realize is that this is the effect of the chemical phenylethylamine, which is released by the brain when you fall in love.

But it comes with an expiration date. This chemical wears off after about four years and then you’re left facing life’s challenges with your normal brain and way of looking at the world. If you and your partner haven’t learned good relationship skills by then, your marriage is at risk for failure.

Every couple faces some challenge in one or more of these areas: money, intimacy, in-laws, children, household management, work/home balance, and individual/couple balance. Knowing how to negotiate through these challenges can make or break your marriage.

Because there are two of you, it’s often easier to put the blame on your partner when you can’t reach an agreement. You are unable to see your own contribution because you can’t see yourself objectively.

If you’re a runner, you may think you’re getting off the blocks brilliantly, when your approach is actually costing you the race. Your coach will explain that to you, so you can fix it.

In your relationship, you can’t hear your partner’s suggestions to do it differently and they can’t hear yours — because you’re both too emotionally involved. A marriage counselor can analyze your situation, identify where things are going off track, and provide suggestions for improvement without stirring up blame, guilt, or defensiveness. Their only goal is to help you succeed at the marriage game.

If you’ve ever taken a lesson from a golf pro to improve your swing, hired a personal trainer or nutritionist to help you get healthier, or sought out a mentor to help you advance in your job, you have made an investment in yourself. Doesn’t your marriage deserve the same?

‘We definitely talk about it. We’re looking forward to that time. It’s also not a huge priority for us; we’re so happy. I think it will be fun to do it when the baby’s grown up a bit and he can be involved in the wedding.’

In a discussion with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Rosie treated readers to the secrets to her incredible post-pregnancy figure.

The blonde beauty said she took fellow supermodel Elle Macpherson’s advice in ‘taking her time’ to ping back into shape.

‘I think I have felt the pressure, but more so from myself than anyone else. I’m not one for extreme diets so it has taken time and it’s really just now that I have started feeling more comfortable,’ she told the publication.
