Aveda's Creative Director Antoinette Beenders gives six bridal haircare tips – image.ie

Global hairdressing legend and Aveda’s Creative Director Antoinette Beenders tells HOLLY O’NEILL the common mistakes brides make in their hair prep.

It’s all in the preparation. If you’re getting your hair coloured, don’t do it the week before. Go two weeks before. Just like your skincare before the wedding day – you wouldn’t get your facial the day before.

If you need to start covering greys, the biggest mistake brides make is doing it the week before because it looks too ‘done’.

Colour your hair two or three weeks before your wedding day and get a haircut at least a month before. When your hair is cut blunt or has just been cut, it looks somewhat harder in pictures. When it’s grown out a tiny bit, you get a softer and better looking photo-finish.

To get your hair in it’s best condition, instead of putting a mask in  your hair just once a week, kick it up to twice a week. Towel dry the hair first so the mask can really absorb into the hair and put a shower cap on your head over the mask – the heat from your head will allow the mask to penetrate deeper.

For those with fine, thinning hair, start your hair prep three months in advance.

Meghan Markle defended by Princess Diana's butler who offers her 'inside' advice – Mirror Online

Princess Diana’s former butler has defended “diva” Meghan Markle and offered her one piece of royal advice.

Paul Burrell blasted Buckingham Palace as a “minefield” and “Downton [Abbey] on speed” in new Channel 5 documentary, Kate V Meghan: Princesses at War?

Among claims of a feud between the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge, the ex-aide said: “Who would want to be a part of that family?”

And with the benefit of insider knowledge, he advised Meghan to “stay close to Harry and get to know his granny – she’s the one that matters most”.

Mr Burrell served as a footman for Queen Elizabeth II and was butler to Diana, Princess of Wales, before her death.

He became a close confidante of the princess, who once described him as “her rock”.

Comparing Meghan’s treatment to Diana’s, Mr Burrell said: “Meghan has married into the most traditional family in the country, the Royal Family. How is she going to cope?

“Princess Diana was brought up in a house that was as big as Buckingham Palace, and even she was lost.

“Buckingham Palace is a minefield for any person going in there for a first time.

Mr Burrell said said Meghan should ‘stay close to Harry and get to know his granny’

Mr Burrell claimed Diana found it difficult to adjust as Buckingham Palace was not nice to her.

He said: “People set traps, they weren’t very kind to this young girl coming into this world.”

The documentary focuses on the alleged feud between Prince Harry and Prince William’s wives.

But it also explores how the Duke of Sussex has allegedly changed since his marriage to the former actress.

Prince Harry is “completely beguiled and enthralled” to his pregnant wife, according to Lady Colin Campbell.

He reportedly told royal staff in the run up to their wedding: “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”

Speaking on the documentary, Lady Colin Campbell said: “Everything I hear is that Harry is completely beguiled by Meghan and completely enthralled to her and has changed considerably.

“People do change when they get married.”

And royal author Katie Nicholl said the real feud could be between the brothers.

She explained how William was concerned Harry’s relationship with Meghan was moving too fast, leading him to raise the issue with his younger sibling.

But Harry was reportedly “riled” by William’s intervention which he saw as “criticism” of his bride-to-be.

Ms Nicholl said: “They will joke about who hasn’t done the washing up or William will have a go at Harry for eating him out of house and home but actually a rift over his choice of bride is far more serious.

“William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly and being close to Harry, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry ‘this seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?’

“And I think what was meant as well intended brotherly advice just riled Harry.

“Harry is hugely protective of Meghan, he saw that as criticism, he interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage and I don’t think things have been quite right ever since.”

The couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and wed in May.

Meghan is expecting their first child in the spring.

How Meghan Markle has 'changed' Prince Harry since wedding – Mirror Online

Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle last year has ‘changed him considerably’, according to a royal commentator.

The Duke of Sussex is ‘completely beguiled and enthralled’ to his pregnant wife, said Lady Colin Campbell.

He reportedly told royal staff in the run up to their wedding “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets”.

The claim that he has changed comes amid reports of a rift between the Sussexes and the Cambridges with reports that Meghan and Kate do not see eye to eye.

Meghan and Harry have faced rumours of tensions with Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge since announcing their plans to move from Kensington Palace last November.

Speaking on Channel 5 documentary Kate V Meghan: Princesses At War, Lady Colin Campbell said: “Everything I hear is that Harry is completely beguiled by Meghan and completely enthralled to her and has changed considerably.

The claims of a rift largely centre on rumours Meghan can be controlling and she has faced questions about her behaviour both before the Windsor wedding in May and after.

Harry’s wife is said to have been nicknamed “Duchess Difficult” by royal staff.
