Meyer is a football coach, not a marriage counselor

Apparently Urban Meyer’s fault was not coming to you for advice, because you could have told him what to do. But let me point out that until quite recently the advice you would have given him would have been in direct contradiction to what the law and social norms would have allowed. The problems between the offending coach and his wife were considered private between the couple and it was not the business of the employer to referee in the personal lives of his employees. Meyer is a football coach, and not a marriage counselor. The abused wife had gone to the law, which was applying whatever remedies its experience determined were suitable. Abusive husbands don’t think of themselves as abusive, and I don’t suppose they think of anything when they lose control, so I don’t suppose fatherly advice from Mayer would have had any effect. (For all we know that was what Meyer was doing). You seem to be saying that Meyer should have fired his assistant earlier, I haven’t heard what the coach is doing now, but I imagine it is very difficult for him get any employment at all with such notoriety following him. So now we have not only an abusive husband dealing with the law, but an unemployed abusive husband dealing with the law, with no money to support his family. I guess that should teach him! It’s one more example of the nanny state involving itself where it has no business going. The law either was or was not performing its proper function. To ask Meyer to know and do more than the law is unjust. Meyer’s punishment is ridiculous, and his suspension and his forced apologies are concessions to the power of the advocates of the nanny state. Richard Davis Marietta

“This Is the Best Advice I Can Give”: Jane Fonda Reveals Sex Tips She'd Tell Her Younger Self

Veteran actress Jane Fonda has revealed the one sex tip she would pass on to her younger self: Look for kindness.

Fonda was attending the Australia premiere of her new movie “Book Club” in Sydney this week when she held interviews on the red carpet. When stopped by Yahoo 7 Be, Fonda explained how she overlooked kindness as a key characteristic when she was younger. “One thing you don’t tend to look for when you’re younger is kindness,” Fonda said. “It didn’t occur to me until I was in my 70s that one should look for kindness.”

Now 80, Fonda went on to tell advice she thinks every woman should hear. “This is the best advice I can give,” she said. “You have to feel seen, safe and celebrated and if you don’t feel those things it’s (not worth it).”

Fonda also explained how love and sex are not the same thing. “You can have sex without love and you can have love without sex,” Fonda said. “The ideal is when they both come together.”

Speaking to news.com.au, Fonda said sex greatly improves for women as they get older. “For women it gets better because we understand our bodies more. We know what we need and we know what we like and we’re less afraid to ask for it. Also, what’s good is that men tend to slow down a little more as they get older. Slow is the operative word, finally they get it… or they’re forced to get it.

“You want lighting to change as you get older. Lighting is important. We tend to want a lot of candles and I usually carry a red scarf with me to put over the lamp. Dark is good,”

Fonda will turn 81 in December. In May, at the American premiere of Book Club, she told The Cut that her dating days were over. “I’m not dating anymore, but I did up until a couple of years ago,” Fonda said. “I’m 80. I’ve closed up shop down there.”

In 1960, Fonda made her screen debut in the movie Tall Story. She has since gone on to start in more than 50 productions, picking up two Academy Awards and another five nominations. She has been married three times and has three children. She was most recently married to Ted Turner from 1991 to 2001. She divorced her first husband, Roger Vadim, after eight years of marriage between 1965 and 1973. Her second marriage, to Tom Hayden, at 17 years, lasted the longest.

Kristin Cavallari prompted a controversial debate online after she offered up some very brutal, but honest, advice about how to split money and manage finances in a marriage.

The 31-year-old former The Hills star is currently taking center stage in her own reality show on E! entitled Very Cavallari, which sees the cameras following her as she navigates being a business owner as well as life with her family.

And in a clip for an upcoming episode that was recently shared on YouTube, Kristin discusses her fortune with her husband Jay Cutler, explaining her future plans to grow and boost her Nashville-based fashion and lifestyle brand, Uncommon James.

The mother-of-three married former NFL quarterback Jay in 2011 before she started to grow her own brand, and was often seen supporting him at Chicago Bears games.

But now, the NFL star has taken a step away from football, focusing instead on life at home with his family, while Kristin dedicates herself to founding and expanding her own business, which led to the couple discussing what Kristin’s five-year-plan would be for her brand during a car trip.

The reality star mentioned how she would like to buy a place in Nashville close to her office so she could crash there after long days at work.

But Jay was not happy about this idea.

‘Wait, what. No, we’re not doing that,’ he said after she slyly suggested the new property.

‘Well I could just buy it with my money,’ Kristin mentioned, which was met with silence from her husband of five years.  ‘Oh, you don’t like that do you. A little independence.’

Her husband countered her idea with how their money has been divided since the pair first got married in June 2013.

‘You have your money, but then all of my money is our money,’ Jay said.

But Kristin gave back a brutal response to her husband about why she needs to have her own set of funds.

‘That’s how it should be, though,’ she said.  ‘The girl should have her own stash. No girl should have to stay in a relationship because a guy is supporting her.’

She went on to reassure her husband that she is with him for the right reasons, not because of the amount of money he’s made in the NFL.

Truthful: Kristin said she should have her own money separate from Jay so she isn’t reliant on his own fortune

‘I’m with you because I love you, not because I need you,’ she said.

The clip saw dozens of fans rallying behind Kristin for speaking up about women having independence in their relationships instead of relying on the partner.

‘Truth’ one fan expressed after watching the episode clip online while another said they also agreed with her because ‘it’s how my dad raised me to be’, and one commented: ‘Actually a good message for all women to retain some independence and your own money. You just never know!’

‘Well said…love her sassy side!’ another person chimed in, while one other commented: ‘I’ve been there and she is 100% correct. Independence is life.’

However some people commented that there was a double standard with men and women by Kristin not sharing her fortune with her husband.

‘BUT…no guy should be forced to stay with a girl because he can’t afford to leave because she’s taken all his money…Double standard,’ the commenter wrote after watching the clip.

The E! show Very Cavallari launched earlier this month and follows Kristin as she grows her business in Nashville, Tennessee.

Earlier this week, it was announced the show would be picked up for a second season and continue to follow Kristin as she navigated being a mother, wife and businesswoman.

The announcement means Kristin will be unable to join The Hill cast for the shows revival because it would conflict with Very Cavallari.

Calling Karan: KJo's advice to Sonam Kapoor on adjusting in her marriage life will leave you in splits

Karan Johar is known for being always upfront. The producer-director never shies away from being brutally honest and savage with his replies. He is back with the second season of his chat show and this season, it is titled Calling Karan. Recently, in his radio show he mentioned that he would have no problems if after 20 years Taimur and Roohi have something then he wouldn’t mind. And now, Sonam Kapoor has called up to take some suggestions.

He asked the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director some suggestions on how to adjust in the first year of marriage. And guess what KJo’s reaction was? He said, “Not that I am a marital expert Sonam! Adjustments are critical, because practically being husband and wife, living together, you get privy to all the habits that your partner has that sometimes may not be in conjunction with yours. So the first thing, I really want to tell you is patience.” He further added, “It could be anything that may not be in conjunction. First, understand the schedule, routine habits, and then if something really difficult, then try and talk about it. But not definitely in the first year, you don’t want to come out so strong and cause road blocks, initially.” (Also Read: Calling Karan: KJo says John Abraham is the most sexual person he knows!)

For the one who doesn’t know, Calling Karan is KJo’s radio show and the first season of it has discussions on marriages, love issues, LGBT and more. The season 2 is also expected to cover these topic and more in a much bolder way.
